Lately my two year old is really in to naming things. Instead of the usual “What’s that?” that most two year old’s say, she says “What’s that name?”. I blame this on the dog, when we got our puppy we kept asking Lexi what we should name it. We have also had a lot of babies born in our extended family recently, so there has been lots of baby naming going on.
Anyway, this means that every day I have to name at least 50 of Lexi’s toys, book characters, and anything else interesting that we happen to see in passing. Lexi is so funny, because if you say a name that she doesn’t like she will say “No” and you have to name it again.
One day my mommy brain just couldn’t think of any more names. Grandma had just given Lexi two new puppy toys and they were lacking names. I was thinking and thinking, but I had nothing. Finally I just read the top of the little doggie house the puppies came with, Fisher Price. So, I told Lexi that the puppies names were “Fisher & Price”. She was very happy with these two names! Now usually the names I give to everything don’t stick and the next day we end up giving them new names, but not with “Fisher & Price”. Lexi loves these two puppies and their names have stuck. It is so funny to watch my little girl introduce her puppies “Fisher & Price” to anyone who will listen!

What’s in a name?
Naming a new baby is a huge deal and it is not always easy. I found this way cool website that helps with the process of deciding on a perfect name for a new little one.
It tells you the meanings and origins of names to help you decide. For example I looked up my kids names and this is what I found. The baby girl name “Lexi” is credited as being of Greek origin and means “Protector of Mankind.” And the baby unisex name “Hunter” is credited as being of English origin and means “One Who Hunts.” This information could have been helpful when I was picking the kids names out. Maybe they will grow into their names origins and meanings?
The truth is my husband and I came up with Lexi and Hunters names before we were even married. We went on a long hike and picked out all the names we liked for our kids. Now I just have to look up the meanings of those names and we can decide what to call the rest of our kids!

I received an email featuring a Christmas product today. I work in advertising and I understand Q4 is the busiest time of year, but we aren’t going to start promoting our products until after Halloween. Should we start moving our time-line up to compete with other companies? In the companies defense, the email was for a Disney Christmas decoration so it does warrant an early season promotion. I know my wife and kids would love it, but Christmas in October? I do my Christmas shopping right around December 24, so this would not be beneficial for me at all.
For those that need to know, here is the product they were promoting:
The Wonderful World of Disney Christmas Tree
What do the Baby Specialist women think? When do you start your Christmas shopping?

Shop for the best costumes here
It’s time to get those Halloween costumes all planned out for your lil’ kiddies! Last year I found the cutest pink bunny costume for Lexi and she was absolutely adorable. This year she is a little more opinionated about what she wears. For example, most days she wears her ballerina tutu, a Cinderella princess crown and carries a purse on her shoulder. But, I think after looking long and hard we have found a costume that she will wear… it’s Minnie Mouse! This costume is so cute and the best part is it only costs $18.49! For our new little guy I think we are going to go with the little Winnie the Pooh or Tigger costume. It has been tough to find a costume for a baby that is under three months old. Anyway, this website has tons of cute costumes! This is the second year we have ordered our costume online, and it could not be any easier! They have a detailed sizing chart, and you can shop from the convenience of your home. Best of all, it shows up to your house in a nice box so your child can’t bug you to wear their costume every day for a month. Check it out!

This is just one of those things that you learn by being a parent I guess? I was looking at Lexi’s rubber ducky and discovered that when I would squeeze it black stuff would come out with the water. Mold and Mildew are building up in all of my little one’s bath toys. I had no idea that rubber duckies could get moldy, but apparently they can. Yuck! So, I am sending a bunch of bath toys to toy heaven today. I will definitely be more careful about draining the bath toys of water. I clean my bathroom regularly, but I never even considered what could be building up in her rubber ducky. I was considering just banning all bath toys that have holes in them from Lexi’s bath, but she loves her “Quack-quacks” so I found a solution. Using a glue gun to seal the hole in bath toys will prevent mold from returning – permanently! Hopefully I can save some parents from discovering there own moldy bath toys!

My 17 month old has a new obsession… Cars! She wakes up every morning and begs to go downstairs and watch her car movie! Today I was in the kitchen doing dishes and she was watching her car movie. All of the sudden she came running in to the kitchen yelling “Mom, mom, mom, mom!” I turned around and she just stuck her tongue out at me through a big smile. I went and looked at the tv and it was the part where Lightning McQueen is flying through the air with his tongue hanging out. Now if you ask her what the car does she responds by sticking her tongue out! So cute!
